NORTHERN MICHIGAN – The Torch Lake Antique and Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous returns to the harbors of the Clam River from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21. More than 60 original and restored wooden boats from the 1920s through the 1960s will be on display, representing brands including Chris Craft, Garwood, Hacker Craft, Higgins, Century, Lyman, Peterborough, and Thompson.
The majority of the boats in this invitational show come from the Chain of Lakes Region. Special guests at this year’s event will be members of the Michigan Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS), and Chris Smith, grandson of the founder of Chris Craft.
The event will kick off with a “Party on the Pier,” from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 20, at The Dockside, offering food, drinks and a selection of unique silent auction items. The party is open to the public. Tickets are $50 per person, and are limited.
From 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, boats will be on display in the water at DeWitt Marine, and from 8 a.m. to noon there will be a display at the The Dockside Restaurant. In addition, there will be an on-land outboard and non-powered display at Butch’s Tackle and Marine from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Awards will be presented at 2 p.m. Admission to all exhibits is free, but donations are welcome.
Live entertainment will be provided by popular performer and Bellaire native, Dominic Fortuna at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., hosted by Butch’s Tackle and Marine.
